7 Website Mistakes Costing Coaches Clients

As a coach, your website is often the first impression potential clients have of your business. Yet so many coaching websites make fundamental mistakes that drive visitors away before they ever book a call.

After reviewing hundreds of coaching websites, we have identified the seven most common—and costly—mistakes. Let us dive in.

1. No Clear Value Proposition

When someone lands on your website, they should immediately understand:

  • Who you help
  • What problem you solve
  • Why they should choose you

Too many coaching websites lead with vague statements like "Transform your life" or "Unlock your potential." These mean nothing to a visitor who does not know you yet.

The fix: Write a headline that clearly states who you help and what outcome you deliver. For example: "Executive coaching for tech leaders who want to scale without burning out."

2. Weak or Hidden CTAs

Your call-to-action is the most important element on your website. Yet many coaches bury their "Book a Call" button at the bottom of the page or make it blend in with everything else.

The fix: Make your primary CTA prominent and visible above the fold. Use contrasting colors and action-oriented text. Repeat it throughout the page.

3. Missing Social Proof

Visitors do not know you. They need evidence that you can deliver results. Without testimonials, case studies, or credentials prominently displayed, you are asking people to take a leap of faith.

The fix: Feature 3-5 strong testimonials on your homepage. Include photos and specific results when possible. Add logos of companies you have worked with or been featured in.

4. Slow Load Times

Every second your website takes to load, you lose visitors. Studies show 40% of people abandon a site that takes more than 3 seconds to load.

The fix: Optimize images, use a fast hosting provider, and minimize unnecessary scripts. Aim for a load time under 2 seconds.

5. Not Mobile-Optimized

Over 60% of web traffic now comes from mobile devices. If your website does not work perfectly on phones, you are turning away the majority of your visitors.

The fix: Test your website on multiple devices. Ensure text is readable, buttons are tappable, and forms are easy to fill out on mobile.

6. Confusing Navigation

If visitors cannot find what they are looking for in 3 seconds, they will leave. Complicated menus and unclear labels create friction that kills conversions.

The fix: Simplify your navigation to 5-7 items max. Use clear, descriptive labels. Make your contact page easy to find.

7. No Lead Capture

Not everyone is ready to book a call on their first visit. If you do not have a way to capture leads, you are losing the opportunity to nurture them over time.

The fix: Offer a valuable lead magnet (guide, checklist, assessment) in exchange for an email address. Build an email sequence that nurtures leads toward booking a call.
